Getting to Know me: I love education! I started my journey as a reading para-professional in Salt Lake. I found a love for teaching reading and later finished my degree at SUU with a major in Elementary Education and a minor in reading.
I worked in the Washington County School District for 13 years, primarily teaching 1st and 5th
grade. I left teaching for the last four years to be a mom. During that time, I home-schooled my children and worked at a home-school co-op. I have always been involved in education, and I’m happy to be back in the classroom!
When I am not working, I love to hike, read, and spend time with my family.

Getting to know Mrs. Rawlings:

My name is Suzette Rawlings and I have lived in Washington County for 22 years. I grew up on a farm in Northern Utah. I loved growing up on a farm, but I am a city girl at heart. I also do not like cold weather so I absolutely love living in Southern Utah!  My husband and I have been married for 21 years and have 3 wonderful children.

After many years of living my dream of being an “at-home” mom, I went back to school. In 2016 I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Dixie State University (Utah Tech University). I was hired to teach 3rd grade for the Washington County School District at Panorama Elementary for the following school year. I taught there for 3 years and loved it! After 3 years of teaching and all of the time I spent at the University, I strongly felt I needed to be home for a little while longer! I decided to keep teaching part-time at George Washington Academy for 2 more years. This time was amazing!  I was able to serve as my daughter’s Room Mom, I had time to be in a musical called Little Women at St. George Musical Theater, and I made some new friends at my local community center! Needless to say, I had fun and my family appreciated the time I had with them! I decided to substitute teach for the district this past Spring in hopes of finding a school to start teaching full-time again! I am so excited to have been hired at Coral Canyon Elementary! I come back to teaching with a new perspective and a lot of ENERGY!

As a teacher, I take pride in creating a learning environment that is both rigorous and fun! Getting students motivated to learn is my forte, so I can’t wait to meet my new class!

Getting to Know Me: I grew up in the Northshore of Oahu, then at the age of 12, I moved to St. George, Utah. After high school, I attended Southern Utah University where I received my Associate's Degree. I then moved back to Oahu, where I attended Brigham Young University. I graduated with my Bachelors in Elementary Education with certificates in Special Education and American Sign Language. After receiving my degree, I was able to teach in Hawaii for four years. I recently moved back to St. George, and am fortunate to be teaching third grade in this beautiful state! I personally believe that the purpose of education is to promote the growth of the individual. I work to establish a trusted learning environment where education can be engaging and exciting.

Classroom:

Getting to Know Me: I was born and raised in Germany until my parents sent me to the United States to learn better English. I was 16 at the time and quickly started loving the people and the country. I received my Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education as well as  my ESL endorsement in 2017. I have always loved riding horses as a child and it is still my passion today. I married my husband in 2015 and we have a son who was born in 2019. As a family we love to spend time outside and have barbecues with friends. I found my love in teaching as a young girl while giving riding lessons and working as a tutor. I loved sharing my passion for horses as well as making learning fun for all students. It is still my focus today to show my students what they can do,  be confident as well as enjoy learning.
