Getting to Know Me:  I grew up in Bountiful, Utah, where my father taught English in both juniorhigh and high school, and my mother taught in grades K – 3. My parents also had siblings who either were teachers or principals, so the “teacher gene”runs strong in my family.

I attended Dixie College on a scholarship. It was there that I met two of my most influential teachers, Roene DiFiore and Michael Woodward. I loved being in the program bureau (a musical group) with Mrs. D. and knew that music would always play an important part in my life. Even today in my classes, I sing songs that I learned from her class. Music has power to teach and inspire us, and I use it daily with my first grade students.

I had also taken a speech class from Michael Woodward, and he told me I had a talent for public speaking. He told me to write some speeches and to come on a forensics tournament with the team. I did, and it turned out very well. I credit Michael Woodward for seeing a talent in me that I didn’t know I had. I learned a valuable lesson from him, and that is that every student I teach has a special talent or skill, and it is my job to find it, nurture it, and encourage it.

I met my husband at a speech tournament while I was a senior at BYU. I was his judge at a Dixie College Forensic Tournament. He must have influential, because three weeks later we were engaged, and three months later we were married. Thirty two years later we have three children, a married son, and two college-aged daughters. We currently spoil our two basset hounds, Jack and Copper, and are members of the Utah Friends of Basset Hounds, a Basset Hound rescue organization.

I have taught school in Sandy, Ephraim, and at a one-room school in Idaho, where I taught all three of my children. Larry and I moved to St. George the summer of 2008, and are delighted to be living in the heart of Dixie.

Getting to Know Me:  I grew up in Western Kansas and Southern California. As I kid I loved swimming, camping, and reading and hated running, broccoli, and meanies. I’ve been a learner my whole life and a teacher of some kind for almost half of it.  These days I still like swimming, camping, and reading but also now do a lot of cooking and Web surfing. First grade is my FAVORITE of all the grades I’ve taught! You can read the last section of my Classroom Handbook for all the boring details of my background and experience. Other than that, I agree with Pete the Cat who says “No matter what you step in, keep walking along and singing your song… because it’s ALL GOOD!”

Getting to Know Me: I was born and raised in Washington, Utah. I graduated high school from Pine View and continued my education at Dixie State. I graduated with my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. I have an ESL Endorsement and I am currently working on my Early Childhood Endorsement.  I have taught 4th grade for six years and starting my 4th year in 1st grade.

I met my husband while attending Dixie. We are the parents of 4 wonderful children. I have many hobbies and activities I enjoy, but nothing surpasses the joy I get from spending time with my family.

I look forward to getting to know the staff and students here at Coral Canyon.

Getting to Know Me: I was born in Las Vegas, Nevada and moved to St. George, Utah when I was 4 years old. I went to Dixie State High School where I played on the golf team and ran track. After graduating in 2008, I decided to stay local and attend Dixie State University. I graduated with my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education degree in 2013, and was hired at Coral Canyon Elementary.  This is my 4th year teaching and I love it!  I just recently finished my Reading Endorsement from Utah Valley University and will be graduating with my Masters Degree in December 2016, from Southern Utah University . I have been married to my high school sweetheart for 4 years now and we have 2 sweet dogs! I love doing anything outdoors, being with my family, and teaching First Grade!
